The Company has become the first Australian glasswool insulation manufacturer to be awarded the rigorous Good Environmental Choice Australia certification (GECA) and the much sort after Goldmark label issued by the Australia Building Codes Board. The Company has also recently achieved the Global-mark certification for its products that conform to AS/NZS 4859.2002.
The Australian Good Environment Choice program is the national environmental products life cycle ecolabelling program for Australia. The objectives of the program are to:
> Provide market incentives for suppliers to reduce the environmental impacts of products sold in Australia.
> Provide a clear, credible and independent guide to consumers wishing to take account of environmental factors in their purchasing decisions;
> Encourage consumers to purchase products which have lower environmental impacts of their products;
> Recognise genuine moves by companies to reduce the adverse environmental impacts of their products;
> Aim ultimately to improve the quality of the environment and to encourage the sustainable management of resources.
Good Environmental Choice Australia Ltd manages the Australian Ecolabel Program, and is an independent organization recognized as the Australian member of an international network of ecolabelling schemes. The organization is a non-profit organization with management representation from Australian industry, environmental organizations, scientific and technical professionals and a wide spectrum of stakeholders.
The Ecolabel is awarded to those products that meet or exceed voluntary standards of environmental performance. The verification procedure is managed via a Documented Quality Management System and Certification Program Manual which have made significant use of the ISO 14 000 series. The following standards have been adapted to the programs requirements, ISO 14 001, 14 0012 the 14020 series, 14 031 environmental performance evaluation, 14040.
